Roles of Elected Officers

President: The President shall serve as the Chairman of the Board and preside over all meetings of the Board of Directors and General Membership meetings.
The responsibilities of the President include, but are not limited to:

  •  Management & Development of the policies, procedures, code of ethics and conduct, in accordance with the chapter’s bylaws
  •  Final review of marketing materials, including: email correspondence, newsletters, courtesy letters, etc.

Vice President: In the absence of the President, the Vice President shall assume the role of President-elect, and carry out all of the duties and responsibilities of the President, as prescribed in the bylaws.

Corresponding Secretary: The Corresponding Secretary is responsible for the distribution of organizational correspondence to chapter members and other affiliates, including:

  • Distribution of emails to chapter members in regards to meeting notifications, social events, and other relevant updates
  • Development of database for membership, and allied professionals sponsors, etc.
  • Development & Maintenance of website (once in operation)
  •  Layout/ formatting of email notifications, newsletters, and other correspondence media

Treasurer: The Treasurer shall oversee all financial affairs of the chapter, and serve as the executive advisor to the Finance and Fundraising Committee;
responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and keeping full and accurate accounts of all financial transactions, regarding the chapter (banking, social event admission
  • fees, sponsorship, etc.)
  • Development sponsorship packages (relative to fees/ levels, and benefits offered to sponsors), and development of financial budgets
  • for social events, scholarships, and other chapter sponsored gatherings

Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary is responsible for the preparation and distribution of all Executive Board and General Membership meeting “meeting minutes”

Parliamentarian: The Parliamentarian shall facilitate the transaction of business, by maintaining order amongst the chapter’s members; as well promoting cooperation and open communication between fellow chapters of the NOMA organization and the neighboring communities.

Historian: The Historian shall maintain ongoing documentation of the events, projects, and history of the organization. Other responsibilities may include:

  • Providing historical documentation about notable minority architects and design/trade professionals, who have contributed to the field of architecture and other related fields (as required for PR purposes, as well as the growth of the NJNOMA organization, members, and affiliates)
